Quick Style Trip {Part 1}

I went on a quick shopping trip to the LA Fashion District with friends today. Wow! It was a whirlwind for sure.  We were on a quick timetable that only allowed a fast visit to the Cooper Building for end-of-season sales and lunch.   My friend has a sister in fashion PR who reps some great lines and we were able to see some of fabulousness that she works with every day.

Here are a few things that I came up with while I was there.  I bought a number of things from the boutique label Theonne.   The designer there has a great eye for detail and it translates into gorgeous but wearable pieces that I love.   Read more about Theonne at Daily Candy.

It has taken me more time to write this blog post than I think I actually spent shopping.   I will post the rest of my treasures very soon.

Little Gown on the Prairie {My Husband's Ambien}

Last week I started blogging a little segment called "My Husband's Ambien".   I have had some readers indicate that they don't understand my meaning behind this title.   I will explain.

I don't mean that every night should be a hot-n-heavy fooling around in the home with your spouse.   I know that with kids (four sons), sports, work, and volunteering that this isn't reality.  Even without kids, sports, work, etc you might not want the H-N-H (hot-n-heavy).  GOOD NEWS!   This blog is about clothes and not the other stuff except as it relates to clothes.

What I mean is that your wardrobe and the clothes that you wear send a message to those around you before you every open your mouth to say anything at all.   For instance, if you are a profession yet your working wardrobe could best be described as "sloppy genius" most likely your clients, patients, customers with only see the SLOPPY.   So, you should look into that as soon as possible and make a change (I can help...www.thepinkfrock.com).

About this non-verbal message... "My Husband's Ambien" is about this message.   The things that I want to say to my husband or any women to the man in her life comes across in her wardrobe.  This is where the H-N-H comes in.  Hubbies don't love sweat pants.   WHY?   Sweat pants say the following:

I am tired
I feel fat
I am cleaning toilets
I like my butt to look saggy
I am not interested in looking good

When I saw Ambien, I mean a drug or clothing choice that really puts the men to sleep.  It could be the sweat pant, or another more fashionable but less understood choice.  It really is far-reaching in its definition.   It isn't truly about bedroom behavior, because again this is a blog about clothes. It is more about how you feel about yourself and what you choose to say with your clothing choices.

Look at this wedding dress!  This is marketed as a reception dress with a vintage-y feel for that boho bride who wants to be "barefoot, expressive, hippie, blah blah".   I am sorry but nothing says GOOD NIGHT to a groom faster than wearing Laura Ingall's Nightgown to your wedding.   This is not flattering, it isn't flirty, it is the OPPOSITE of romantic.   So, here we have this week's candidate for "My Husband's Ambien" .

Thank you to all the readers who have emailed my there photos of sweatpants, ratty t-shirts, scrunchy buns, and tevas.   It is much appreciated.

My Husband's Ambien

I wanted to started a new section on this blog, to be posted on Saturdays. This section is going to be called "My Husband's Ambien". I want to explore further the which clothing items put him to sleep?

I have heard that there is no need to invent a female Viagra, because MONEY has the t effect. My argument in this editorial action "My Husband's Ambien" is that a Rx isn't necessary to put the lights out on attraction in your marriage; Ye Olde Sweatpants can do that.

Here is my first candidate, I have posted the online sales description below:

"When your day calls for nothing more than a great cup of tea and a good book, these Jag Jeans® cropped jeans will fit right in with your plans."

Right... So there you have it. These pants aren't even intended to leave the home. So, check out the photography of the backside of these pants. Why would I pay money to have a flat saggy butt like in the photo?

If the pants put me to sleep then they will put my husband to sleep. It is my honest belief that good men should come home from work to a better view than these saggy-crotched crop pants.

I have also started a board on my Pinterest for My Husband's Ambien. I will be updating that board more regularly.

Pink Frocks for Valentine's Dates

Valentine's Pink Frocks....

Pink Frocks for Valentine's Dates

Girls!  I have been on a long break from The Pink Frock blog.   The end of the year is a busy time for the Frock; client stylings, holiday parties, gift concierge services, and a personal life all eat into the time I have to blog.   I really anticipated that January would be slow for me, like every year, and I could write and post pictures of all the clothes that I want to buy and what I might have been wearing.  Oh no!  It was not to be.

I have had an influx of great clients that I will call Lady Lawyers.  These great girls too busy being legal eagles along with other responsibilities to shop for what they need.  I have loved the projects I have been involved with for lady Esquires this past month; black tie charity events, travel wardrobe, new handbag, and help with hair and accessories.

All of this fun has left little time for online musings.  I have managed to pin a few things to Pinterest { check out my boards about clothes, food, et al} because I have the app on my iPhone.  It makes for a quick thrill to post a beautiful gown or yummy recipe while I wait and wait and wait (I have four sons, five teams, two scout troops, a three year old, and a love of Drybar) that keep me away from YE OLDE LAPTOP.   So Pinterest it is in those lulling moments.

Back to the blog!  I can't let February escape without documenting all of the PINK FROCKS and TOPS that I love.   I abhor seeing beige and gray around Valentine's Day.   YUCK!   I have said it before and will say it again -

Please, for the love, find something fantastic that feels pretty.   I will be glad to help!
